Edgewood Police: Services

Services

VARDA Alarms

For those who have special security needs, the Department has in inventory 10 portable alarm systems that can be installed. When activated, these systems will make direct and immediate notification to our patrol cars.

Child Safety Seat Certified Inspection by appointment

Anyone who has questions about their child safety seats can make an appointment to consult with Officer Terry Chinn to insure maximum safety for their children. Officer Chinn is one of two officers in Northern Kentucky who has received special certification in the installation and evaluation of Child Safety Seat Use.

Civilian Fingerprinting by appointment

Many situations today require extensive identification procedures. Licensing such as childcare, stocks, bonds and securities sales, certain types of adoptions and many other circumstances require that folks be fingerprinted. Edgewood Police provide this service for our residents. Please make an appointment for a time convenient to you. The vast majority of appointments are met on time and the process is quickly completed. However, urgent demands within the City can cause delays or necessitate rescheduling. Contact Detective Ryan to schedule

Operation ID

The Edgewood Police Department recommends that all residents participate in Operation ID. All participants will be given the use of an engraver to mark all items of value in their home, such as televisions, stereos, cameras, etc. These engravers are available free of charge from the Edgewood Police Department. The owner should mark the items with their driver's license number or identification card number, including the State of issue.

Ride Along Program

Ride-along means to be an official passenger in a patrol vehicle, accompanying an Edgewood Police Officer during part of a normal tour of duty. The primary purpose of a police ride-along is to provide an opportunity for the community to see first hand the day-to-day operations of the Edgewood Police. The ride-along guest receives important insight into what it means to be a police officer. Criminal Justice students and people interested in a career in law enforcement have found it particularly useful. The ride-along program fosters a better understanding of the challenges, hazards and rewards of the police officer's role in the community. Contact Sergeants Grigsby or Zurborg for more information

Vacation home checks

Residents of Edgewood should consider contacting the police department if they are planning to be on vacation. Edgewood Police Officers will provide extra security for your house while you are gone. If your house is going to be vacant for any length of time, stop in at the department and fill out a Vacation House Check Form.

DARE/School Resource Officer

Officer Terry Chinn is the School Resource Officer / D.A.R.E. program coordinator. Officer Chinn has gone through Department of Criminal Justice basic and advanced School Resource Officers class, along with NASRO basic class.
Officer Chinn is assigned to Dixie Heights High School, and teaches D.A.R.E. at Saint Pius, Hinsdale, & Caywood elementary schools. Officer Chinn is also assigned to Turkeyfoot Middle School. The DARE program was introduced in our schools in 1986 and has been a part of the Health curriculum since that time.
