Fire department and EMS volunteers
We need your help! If it weren't for volunteers, three-fourths of the United States would be without adequate fire protection including Edgewood, the community you live in. Few jobs offer the challenges and rewards that volunteer fire, rescue and emergency services offer. But this business is not for everyone. You need courage, dedication, and a willingness to learn new skills; and to be able to conquer and diverse challenges.
· As a volunteer you will be trained to react with confidence to all sorts of emergency situations
from childbirth to fire.
· The rewards in the emergency services are incredible
if you consider respect and appreciation reward enough.
· Saving a neighbor's home from being destroyed by fire, rescuing a child from injury or possible death. These are the volunteer's rewards of personal satisfaction.
So if you have a strong desire to help and you believe that you have what it takes to meet the challenges, join the team that protects the dreams in Edgewood.

The Department furnishes all volunteers and paid personnel with the latest technology personal protective equipment. Being a primarily volunteer department requires a continual influx of new volunteers. The department has had several successful recruitment drives for fire and EMS volunteers. If you think you might be interested in serving your community as a fire and/or EMS volunteer, see the sections below for additional information and the benefits of volunteering. Contact us at 341-2628 for any questions or for more information.
Fire department members of the Edgewood Fire/EMS initially receive 150 hours of training from the fire department in multiple categories that qualify them as state certified firefighters. EMS members are given basic first aid and CPR classes. They are then enrolled in an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class which after successful completion and testing qualifies the member as a nationally and state certified EMT. This is all at no cost to you. Edgewood will cover all costs for training with your commitment to helping your community.
At Edgewood Fire/EMS, we never stop training. Training drills are held almost every week either in fire or EMS drills or a combination of the two. Our training night is on Wednesdays of every week and the schedule is posted.
For more information on the training offered here at this department, please follow this link to our training link.
