City of Edgewood Fire Prevention Bureau
Fire Inspections
The Edgewood Fire Prevention Bureau conducts semi-annual inspections at ALL businesses in the City of Edgewood , contracted area's of Crestview Hills and miscellaneous fire district areas. The totals approximately 450 total inspections. The bureau also assist's the Northern Kentucky Area Planning and Zoning with various inspections in the above locations. If you have a special need for an inspection such as corporate required inspections, Insurance inspections, Home Inspections, etc. please contact us to assist you.
New Business Requirements
All Businesses are required to have a Knox Box (Key Box) and maintain current keys inside of it.
If you need more information about the Knox Box (Key Box) program, or need further explanation of the program please contact the fire prevention office.
All Businesses are required to submit architectural plans for businesses being built within our district.
If you need information on permits that are required please contact NKAPC from the contact tab.
All businesses will have periodic pre-planning inspections conducted (for fire department use only) in addition to semi-annual required code compliance inspections. If you have any significant changes in your business, which may impact the response or needs of the fire department please also contact the fire prevention office.
Residential
Residents are not regulated by the fire prevention bureau; however we will assist any resident with fire prevention needs and concerns in the home and conduct courteous inspections if requested.
We offer a Knox Box (Key Box) program which assists the fire, police, and Ambulance in getting into homes. This program has been in place for many years and several elderly and special needs residence have taken advantage of this program. (Knox Box purchase may apply.)
